At El Dorado Spa Resorts & Hotels we are committed to preserve the ecological diversity and richness of the Mayan Jungle, while providing first-class facilities and unsurpassable services. Some of our efforts directed towards becoming a truly Green Company are the following:
Better flavor, more nutrition
We have a hydroponic greenhouse of 70,000 sq. ft. where we grow: beef tomatoes, plum tomatoes, teardrop tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, chilies, zucchinis, string beans, leaf vegetables and a wide selection of herbs.
Hydroponics is a method of growing plants perfectly balanced using mineral nutrient solutions and without any soil. The plants can uptake the nutrients with very little effort, as opposed to those planted in the soil, where the roots must expend energy searching out and extracting them, instead of spending it on vegetative growth, fruit and flower production.
We have invested 3.2 million dollars in energy-saving air conditioners with electric converters.
Our interest is eliminating stop-start cycles, which increases efficiency, extends the life of components, and helps reduce electrical consumption by 50%, which in turn results in CO2 reduction, another relief for the environment.
All Dorado Resorts love the sunshine, so we use 100% solar water heating systems thus reducing CO2 emission.
Our ozone systems substitutes all chemicals needed in the laundry, and our water recycling filter system turns 92% of the used water back into drinking water. On top of this, we have 98% heat recuperation for all washing cycles.
