We have a 70,000 sq. ft. hydroponic greenhouse where we grow several types of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, chilies, squash, beans, leafy vegetables and a selection of herbs.
Hydroponics is a method of growing well balanced plants. Using nutritious mineral solutions without soil, it allows plants to absorb nutrients with very little effort compared to those grown in soil, as the roots of the latter must spend energy searching and extracting nutrients, rather than using it for growth and for flowers and fruits production.
We invested $3.2 million dollars in energy-saving air conditioners with electrical converters. We are interested in the elimination of on-off cycles for increased efficiency, longer life of the components and help reduce power consumption by 50%, resulting in the reduction of CO2, thereby helping the environment.
At El Dorado Resort we love the sun. That is why 100% of our water heating systems are solar powered, which allows us to reduce CO2 emissions.
Our ozone systems replace all chemicals needed in the laundry room, and our filtering and recycling system converts 92% of the water used into drinking water. Besides this, we have systems that recover up to 98% of the heat produced, so we can later use it in the washing cycles.
